Available in various types—such as monochrome (black, white, or metallic), YMCKO (full-color dye-sublimation), and resin-based ribbons—they cater to different printing technologies (direct-to-card or retransfer). Monochrome ribbons are ideal for simple text or barcodes, while YMCKO ribbons produce vibrant, photo-quality color images with an optional protective overlay (O-coat) for scratch and UV resistance. Resin ribbons bond permanently to PVC or polycarbonate cards, ensuring durability for long-term use in ID badges, access cards, or payment cards.

Compatible with major printer brands, they are critical for achieving professional, secure, and durable card personalization in corporate, government, and healthcare applications.

HID Fargo DTC Ribbons Series
Direct-to-Card (DTC) Ribbons

Custom dye-sublimation and resin ribbons work seamlessly with HID FARGO DTC printers to produce secure and durable cards with colorful images, crisp text and precise bar codes.

YMCKO Color Ribbon

  • Y = Yellow dye sublimation panel

  • M = Magenta dye sublimation panel

  • C = Cyan dye sublimation panel

  • K = Black resin panel (K = Key = Black)

  • O = Overlay panel

Black Resin Ribbon

  • Monochrome ribbons print a single-color

  • Ideal for personalizing pre-printed ID cards, or printing on colored card stock

  • Solid color only, no shades or shadows, does not work well for photographs

Golden Ribbon

  • The Fargo gold metallic monochrome resin ribbons are mainly used to print metallic text and line art on one or two sides of a card.

White Ribbon

  • 2000 images per roll

  • Consists of only White panels used for printing in monochrome (barcodes, text, serial numbers, bold black graphics, etc.) to PVC/Composite ID card stock.

Sliver Ribbon

  • Prints 1,000 images per roll

  • Available as ECO only
